Awarded Saturday 27th of April 2024
Reuben's dedication throughout his time within SSAGO was recognised in 2024 with the awarding of Honorary membership for his exceptional service to SSAGO.
Reuben joined SSAGO in 2016 and immediately stepped up to be Keele's treasurer, even though he was still a fresher, and helped establish Keele as the club we recognise today. In his second year Reuben dedicated himself to the role of ‘Scout and Guide Liaison’ which focused on helping members find groups to volunteer at and his motto “You only get 12” encouraged attendance to National Events by Keele members. His involvement in ‘Keele to Kandersteg’ provided incredible experiences for Keele, resulting in 12 members, half of them being freshers, attending. The trip took extensive planning and none of the committee had run an international trip before, but they pulled it off and had an amazing time. In Reuben’s third year it was finally his turn to be Chair and Keele ran their first Midlands Freshers’ Camp - 'Midlands Murder Mystery' which Reuben chaired.
In his third year Reuben was elected to the National Exec as Publicity Officer and was re-elected the following year. Along with the rest of Team Pink he aided SSAGO as the country went into lockdown. Reuben tried to make things as fun as possible throughout the period of no national events by making memes, judging baking competitions, and recreating the awards from Ball as a video. Reuben was responsible for creating the Committee Colander, a new annual award to recognise a committee that has gone above and beyond. After Reuben had graduated, he continued to be vital within SSAGO. As co-chair and treasurer for Once Upon a Ball, the first Ball since Covid, he offered key insight into national events and was able to continue their high standards. Since then, Reuben has successfully bid for Witan 2024, aiming to take SSAGO to Burg Rieneck in a truly international event.
From committees, event planning, DJing, and being a great quiz master, most of SSAGO probably know Reuben from somewhere and his continuous, unwavering dedication to SSAGO since 2016 has made Team Pink proud to be able to award him with the Exceptional Service award and Honorary membership in 2024.
